Al exKeymasterNo Discord, sorry. Personally, I prefer it over a classic forum. But it’s really bad for support/troubleshooting, you lose track of issues too easily.
Anyway, you gave me a reason to finally purchase Dark Sun on GoG. Things don’t get less confusing here, because it’s working for me witbout any tweaks. Add new profile, select dsun.exe as main program, save profile, launch game. I didn’t change a single setting, and the game is running fine.
If you’ll share your profile here, I can take a look, and try to find out what’s wrong.
Al exKeymasterSomething’s not quite right here. Ishar 3 works out of the box for me. And the autoexec section simply executes command you would otherwise type in manually.
If you like, we can try to troubleshoot some more. It’s most likely just a typo, or a quirk in your configuration.
Al exKeymasterWeird, must be some kind of typo. If you put the exact same commands you type to launch the game manually into the autoexec section, it has work, too. ?
Regarding the patch: Magic Dosbox emulates a full DOS PC, so you do it just as you would on a real oldschool PC: simply launch Magic Dosbox (with expert settings, “mount c /storage/emulated/0/aGamesbacks/” in [autoexec], then go to the patch directory (“cd prophet” or whatever the directory is called), and run the patch file.
Al exKeymasterTry this:
[autoexec]
@Echo Off
mount c /storage/emulated/0/aGamesbacks/
cd darksu~1
dsunOr simply rename the directory from “Dark Sun” to “DSUN” or something. DOS does neither like spaces in file/directory names, nor name longer than 8 characters. 🙂
Al exKeymasterHi,
you can find the official Dosbox forum over at VOGONS: https://www.vogons.org/viewforum.php?f=53
People are very active on the forum, and you’ll find lots of answers there. For starters though, and not to have you leave here empty handed: you should set Dosbox to fullscreen, and experiment with the fullscreenresolution option (https://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Dosbox.conf#.5Bsdl.5D).
For example, fullscreenresolution=640×400Also, if you don’t want the original pixelated image, you might want to try the different scaling options. That way, you can achieve a smooth image even in “full” fullscreen mode.
Al exKeymasterSounds great! ?
Granted, Magic Dosbox has so many features, it’s easy to get lost. But it’s just like you say: I love how you can create playable configs for pretty much every DOS game.
Al exKeymasterHi, and welcome! ?
The SVN core checkbox is under “hardware” on the first page of your profile settings:

In newer Android versions (Oreo and above), you can hide the mouse cursor by turning mouse wheel up.
Al exKeymasterYeah, the change in character position really annoyed me, too, when I was creating my layout. ?
Al exKeymasterGreat, looking forward to it! ?
Al exKeymasterWell done, thanks a lot! ??
I like all that automation & gesture implementation. And the icons look great, too.
Al exKeymasterWindows is, as a rule of thumb, extremely buggy in Dosbox. That’s not even a particular issue with Magic Dosbox.
To prevent data loss, make sure to always shut down Windows properly (Start button – Shut down Windows). Also, even when it says “It’s now safe to turn off your computer”, it actually may not. Wait at least 10 seconds longer (that’S what
I do at least), before you close Magic Dosbox.
Al exKeymasterNo, 3Dfx isn’t supported, because there’s no Glide wrapper for Android. You can software emulate 3Dfx, but that’s terribly slow, much slower than SVGA actually.
HDD images can be up tp 2 GB, that’s a Win95 restriction. Win98 does suport larger sizes, but it’s buggy af in Dosbox in general. You can always try, though. 🙂
Al exKeymasterHi, and welcome!
Which version of Championship Manager are you trying to run? It’s hard to troubleshoot without further information, but in general, you should just follow the error message. Run setsound.exe (use Magic Dosbox game profile to set it up as setup file, then run setup), set soundcard to Soundblaster Pro / 16, and see if it works.
Al exKeymasterHm, weird. Are you running the game off an external sd card? Google have crippled sd card support over the last couple of Android iterations, so you should try it from internal sd (if you aren’t already doing so).
Al exKeymasterLol, don’t blame yourself, these things happen to all of us. Glad you got it working. ??
