You mean, it stopped working again!? Weird. Have you tried to put the .sf2 file in the /Download directory, or some other basic directory on your internal sd card?

You’re welcome. ? In some games, like Warcraft 2, Fluidsynth sounds great, sometimes even better than the original CD music.
(External drives are a mess ever since the latest Android OS upgrades. ?)

Still quite strange. Fluidsynth is running fine in any game I’ve thrown it at so far, even when used as MT32 replacement, though that can sound rather horrible. Maybe (unless you haven’t already) copy the sf2 file to a standard directory, like /sdcard/Downloads, and see if that will help.
Because if you’re getting MT32 sound, MIDI output is definitely working on your device. No synth music output rather indicates that Dosbox can’t find/access the soundfont file.

Aaaand I just saw you’re using the CD version. Is it possibly looking for CD audio tracks instead?

Oh, and one more thing: make sure you set the frequency to 44100 or 48000 Hz (the cogwheel at the top right of the “Sound” section). MIDI music sounds awful at lower audio frequencies, it’s all distorted. 44.1 kHz is fine, 48kHz is perfect.

Should work out of the box by using Magic Dosbox’s UI setup. I did the exact same steps as you: Midi:synth, select sf2 file (General_User_GS_Fluidsynth_v1.47.sf2), configured DOTT to use Gen MIDI Port 330, and it’s working.

That said, let’s look for the reason why it isn’t working for you.
    • First off, please make sure there are no spaces in the file name of your .sf2 file. I think I recall there were some issues with that in Dosbox in general.
    • Next, try the sound font I mentioned above. It’s free, and sounds really good (http://www.schristiancollins.com/generaluser.php).
    • If it still doesn’t work, try it with another game, to see if it’s an isolated issue with your DOTT copy.

    Good luck! ??

Don’t bother. The version I shared here on the forum is the last iteration, I stopped working on it after that. I tried to put in too much stuff, like switching between different types of screens/telescope widgets, and it never really worked.
Tried something similar with Ultima Underworld, too though. Maybe I should revisit what I created there, UW would make a great portrait mode mobile game, too. ?

Lol, I do recognize some of the icons, as well as the startup widget. ?
A shame that the game only allows for mouse or keyboard input. Having the “manipulate” function available in mouse mode, to easily open doors, press buttons, etc. with a dedicated widget, would be nice.

But I think your layout is as good as it can possibly get. Swapping between gameplay and character management does also work flawlessly. Was always kinda broken in my layout, until I gave up on it. ?

I gave it a spin, and I must say, this is an incredibly well made layout. It’s working perfectly on my device, absolutely hassle-free. A major improvemt over the original PC controls, and very well playable with one hand. That’s what an Android port of the gane should look like. ??

You should also try Spaceward Ho! if you like these kind of games. ?

    Portrait mode? That’s great! ?
I’ve been working on something similar for a while, but I somehow made things too complicated, and in the end, it didn’t work at all. ?

Discord is great, and I love using it for all kinds of other projects. But it’s a pain to keep track of everything there. Unless you’re actively online all the time, or have a bunch of dedicated moderators, things can get out of hand quickly. 😉

A traditional forum like this one here is kinda laid back in comparison, but in general a better place for troubleshooting and support. I’ve done quite a lot of forum & Discord moderation, and Discord – while definitely being the better communications tool – never really worked as a support platform.

Thanky you very much! Unsurprisingly, the performance mode score is identical to the P30, but it’s good to have a normal mode result in the list now. 768 is still fast enough for like 99% of all DOS games. 🙂

That sounds strange. Can you please export your profile and post a download link here? There must be something weird in there. Unless your game is broken (which I highly doubt), it should run perfectly fine on the S7.

Sound issues are almost always related to cpu overload. Soundblaster/Adlib becomes choppy (starts skipping), while General MIDI/MT32 develops a rubberband effect.

    Things you can try:

    1. Enable expoert settings, set cycles = max 50%
    2. in either Exert settings, use a fixed cycles setting. Something like cycles = 30000 should work fine
    3. disable Expert settings, instead use the “Performance: custom” setting in the profile GUI. Launch your game (will run at 3000 cycles), go poast the intro screen, then gradually increase cycles from the menu (“Power” options, the blue potion icon), until you find a sweet spot.
    4. try another DOS emulator for comparison, to see it’s an issue specifically with Magic Dosbox. There are several free ones around.
