Al exKeymasterJust a quick heads-up @xendelaar: update is on the way, there’ll be an autofire option implemented for all key widgets.
Al exKeymasterI haven’t tried the above layout, but off the top of my hat, I made this quick example here: https://www.mediafire.com/file/pza9khnsqy7ks1w/Mouse_Toggle.mgc/file
Basically, it’s two Deadly Strike widgets at the exact same position, each with Mouse Navigation and 2x Ghostly Presence. They’re configured so they turn on absolute/relative mouse mode, hide themselves, and make the opposite widget appear.
Al exKeymasterThanks, you’re welcome. ?
Seems to be a bit complicated to change the way combo widgets are working, so it’s more likely there’ll be an auto fire option added to the key widget settings. Not 100% sure, but that’s how things are looking right now. ?
Al exKeymasterQuick update: this might actually be a bug, I found that the combo widget combination is triggered once and then ceases to work. Stay tuned… 🙂
Al exKeymasterAlright, I’ve passed your question on. I just remembered that I did discuss auto fire implementation with Tony (the dev) during a small side project of his (not Magic Dosbox related). Maybe he can come up with something.
Al exKeymasterYou’re talking about rapid fire, right? Holding space bar in Xenon 2 kinda does that, but much too slowly, so there’s definitely a need for that.
Weird thing is, in theory, it should be possible to address another combo, as it’s a widget like any other. But I just tried, and nothing happens, so maybe there’s some quirk to it. ? I’ll try some other things, I could swear there’s some kind of auto repeat.
Al exKeymasterAh wait, I’m playing it in a Win95 setup, because it’s more stable. The Win98 XDA build by RolandDeschain is pretty neat, but still very buggy for me. I was having all sorts of issues, so I stopped using it. IIRC, it’s actually Win98 lite, not “full” Win98. In Win95 at least, sound’s working just fine.
Al exKeymasterHm, don’t have AoE2 on my phone atm. Let me check…
Al exKeymasterIIRC the SVN core setting is indeed messing up some things, and won’t go well with Win98. It’s rather experimental, and necessary for things like save states, but I would keep it disabled whenever possible.
But it shouldn’t affect sound at all. I found that for really clear sound, especially MT32/MIDI, you simply need to set mixer and soundcard frequency to 44100 or 48000. At 22050 or lower, sound is garbled. These higher frequencies should also have zero impact on performance.
Al exKeymasterEasiest way is to copy the game files / iso image to another hdd image, and mount it as drive D:
You can use a tool like UltraISO to access the hdd files.
Here’s how I do it:
– on your PC, copy the iso file, e.g. Diablo, to an empty 2 GB hdd image
– copy this hdd image to your phone
– mount it as drive D: in Magic Dosbox
– in Win95, use a CD-ROM emulator (e.g. Virtual Clone Drive) to emulate a CD drive
– mount the iso file from drive D:
– install the game to drive D:
– playWith this method, you can mount different hdd image files for different game profiles. Your C: drive will only store the installation information, while all the game files will be stored on (interchangeable) D: drives. This way, I’ve got 10 Win95 games installed atm, keeping them on six 2 GB images that are being mounted by the according game profile.
Al exKeymasterI was thinking of kinda the same. You can try Automate, I’ve been using it to create automated backups of a floppy disk image I was using to store savegames of some of my Win95 games (because fdd images are small and can be quickly synced). It’s dead useful, similar to Tasker, but with a flowchart UI to set things up more comfortably.
To get you started quickly, here’s my Automate flow (make sure to change sdcard and Google Drive settings to match yours).
You can duplicate a working flow, so you’ve got one for each game. Instead of monitoring a single fdd image, you might want to monitor the game’s save folder instead, but apart from that, my flow file should do the trick.
Al exKeymasterLooks great! I like the idea with the background, to replace the black borders left & right. ?
Al exKeymasterYou can also try my Diablo 1 profile, it also works for Diablo 2. All you need to do is adjust the mounting in expert settings.
Al exKeymasterNice, I’ve been using ScummVM for what feels like decades now. Love how they’re keeping it alive.
Al exKeymasterI’ve set these two values under [cpu] in expert settings, works best for me:
cputype=pentium_slow
isapnpbios=true -
