Al exKeymasterSeems to be a general Dosbox problem, not Magic Dosbox specific. Try this, maybe it helps:

Al exKeymasterI do have a working Starcraft profile, and I have played it already a while back, so I can confirm it’s working (or was working at least).
Larrynho’s suggestion is a good one, that might already solve your issue with minimal effort. Game mode is dead useful in 3D games, but absolutely useless in 2D applications like Dosbox. You don’t gain a single percent of performance, so it’s best to exclude Magic Dosbox from the games list (Game Launcher on Samsung phone).
If that doesn’t help, the solution might be in Magic Dosbox’s built-in mouse fixes for Windows 95.
Try this:
- – Once Win95 has booted up, press the back button of your phone, so the Magic Dosbox menu pops up.
– Go to Advanced settings, and select Manual correction.
– set it to match your Win95 and/or Starcraft resolution (most likely 640×480)
– also, set the Correction type to “msmouse”, that’s mandatory in Win95/98.Or, you can download the profile here. I’ve never uploaded it here, because it’s not finished, but it should do the trick.
Be aware that it’s using Expert settings, so you’ll have to adjust the mounting commands.
Al exKeymasterNo kidding, that’s actually pretty good, considering it’s a 2012 device. You should be able to play games like Warcraft 2 without any issues. Win95/98 will be rather painful to operate, though. But as a proof of concept, just give it a go. 🙂
Al exKeymasterI know it’s annoying. Unfortunately, this has to he coded into the app, there’s no way to globally hide the mouse cursor. And it wouldn’t make sense, either, at least for the majority of Android apps. If you hide the cursor for the external mouse, you won’t see where you’re clicking (unless you’re running an emulator, but that’s probably 0,0001% of all users ?).
If you’re rooted, you can try to find the mouse cursor image in your system files, and replace it with an empty image. But that could brick your phone, and cause all sorts of issues. ?♂️
Al exKeymasterHaha, my bad. I thought you were referring to screen borders. This topic is confusing me. ?
Anyway, Uae4arm is a whole different thing, and no Dosbox specific feature will work on it.
Al exKeymasterThat’s the point – I don’t know about Uae4arm. In Magic Dosbox, press back button ingame => Adjust Screen => Navigation Bar => Hide. Save profile, so the settings stick.
Al exKeymasterUae4arm…? Yoi sure you’re in the right forum? ?
Al exKeymasterGoogle heading down the Apple road…
One obvious solution of course: NEVER uninstall Magic Dosbox again.? But why on earth do they have to plague is with this bs? ?
Al exKeymasterYep, just checked. It’s bundled with DOsbox, so there must be some kind of quirk in your config. If you post your config here, we can try to troubleshoot.
Al exKeymasterWhat exactly did you try? 🙂 And what kind of error messages are you getting?
It’s probably a mounting issue. As long as there’s a DOS executable, it should work. Plus, afaik, the GoG version is running on Dosbox, too.
Al exKeymasterThanks, added it to the list. Looks like these new midrange cpus (Exynos 9610 too) are really very good for emulation.?
Al exKeymasterIf the controls in Arena are the same, it should work. You can delete widgets that don’t work, or replace them, to adapt the control scheme.
Al exKeymasterHm. My initial thought was that maybe your A5 isn’t powerful enough. But Master of Magic only requires a 386SX, and even the 1st gen A5 would be perfectly capable of emulating this.
But that leads me to another idea: your cycle settings are definitely much too high, and that will cause slowdowns. As soon as the cpu becomes overloaded, emulation starts to lag. Also, constant strain on the cpu will cause heating, and then it will be throttled by cpu management. This is what’s most likely happening when it suddenly slows down a couple of minutes into the game.
To emulate a 386SX/25 MHz, you only need as little as ~3000-4000 cycles. So I’d suggest you reduce your settings instead of cranking them up ever further. Try something like 6000 for example, or maybe even 10000, then you can also set frameskip=0 to make it look smoother. Also, reduce memory to 4 or 8 MB, to match the system requirement better.
Al exKeymasterI don’t own the game, so sadly, I can’t test. But it’s weird, because according to the Dosbox compatibility page, it should work fine: https://www.dosbox.com/comp_list.php?showID=40&letter=M
Some speed issues on 15 years old PCs (Athlon XP 1800), but even an entry-level smartphone cpu is much faster than that.Have you compared the performance to gameplay videos on Youtube? I’m asking, because maybe the slow gamespeed is just what the developers intended it to be (as annoying as that might be)?
Al exKeymasterDon’t worry, once you get into it, it’s almost more fun than playing the actual game. ?
