This is hands down the most amazing layout I’ve ever seen. What I like most about your style is how you seamlessly implement those neat options menus, like also in Prince of Persia. Kudos to you! ?

You can do all this stuff from within Magic Dosbox, though it’s sometimes way quicker and easier to edit the xml files, if you know what you’re doing.

“Rub the magic lamp”!? That’s hilarious, thank you very much! ??

And I agree, this feature is huge. IMHO, it’s among the coolest things ever done in any emulator.

I had setup a pretty cool Lemmings layout, but after some changes during the beta phase, I had to remove the Pixel Traps. Haven’t reconfigured them yet.

But you should try zembumper’s Prince of Persia layout (in the .mgc section), it’s incredibly good.

I’m also working on portrait mode layouts for Ultima 6 and Ultima Underworld. Warcraft 2 one-handed sounds like a realistic goal, so go for it! ?

I’m with you, that would be awesome. ?

As mentioned above, the widget feature is working so well because it’s integrated into MDB. It would have to run as some kind of virtual keyboard (similar to GameKeyboard) in order to use it with other apps.
Having all these widget separated from MDB would be insanely useful (just think of all the Android games with crap touch controls), but I fear a standalone solution isn’t doable. ?

But I’m not a programmer, so who knows? ??

I must admit that I hadn’t tried this layout before. I’ve just tested it, and WOW! This is one of the best (if not the best) layouts I’ve seen so far. Extremely well done! ?
Works like a charm in the official v81 release, too.

Magic Dosbox is installed in “/sdcard/Android/data/bruenor.magicbox”

The game profiles are stored in either “/sdcard/.Magicbox” (that’s the public location) or in “”/sdcard/Android/data/bruenor.magicbox\.MagicBox” (I think, maybe some subdirectory in there. Anyway, that’s the private location)

In some cases, it’s not “/sdcard/”, but “storage/emulated/0” or “storage/sdcard/”, or whatever. But file explorers will show the root of your sdcard regardless of the file path behind it, so that won’t be a problem.

Just open up the zip after you’ve created the backup, then you’ll see how everything’s stored in there. The zip file should put everything in the correct folder when you unzip it to the root of your sd card.

Magic Dosbox has a backup feature, see here:
    http://www.mediafire.com/file/ir4q7jex15eynww/Screen_Recording_20201025-134858_Magic_DosBox_1.mp4
This will create a complete backup of all your game profiles and settings.
Copy this file to your pc, or even better, upload it into your Google Drive account (share feature somehow doesn’t work for me, else it would be possible from the file dialogue at the end).

Anyway. Once you’ve reset your phone, reinstall Magic Dosbox, copy/download the backup to your phone, and unzip the backup file to your sd card. If you’re using the “public” install location (recommended), an invisible folder labelled “.MagicBox” will be extracted to /sdcard/.MagicBox

You can check if it’s there with any 3rd party file explorer that supports display of invisible files (e.g. Solid Explorer or ES File Explorer).

Mind that you will have to backup the DOS games themselves manually. Magic Dosbox will backup your profiles, but not the attached games (else the backup file would become HUGE ?).

Should release soon, the feature is running very stable and bug-free by now.

Now that’s a fine list. Dune 2 & Warcraft series in particular, I played the cra out of those games back in the day. And also in recent years on Android, I played and finished WC2 two or three times in Magic Dosbox. ?

This layout was created using a yet unreleased beta build. The new pixel trap function will be included in the next release, without it, the profile crashes in lower versions.

I think Dune 2 is free now, but I’m not sure about that either. Most likely noone even would even care, but better safe than sorry. 🙂
Anyway, maybe your fix will work, thanks for that!

Unfortunately, I had to disable the link. Game downloads are illegal unless the game has been officially been released as freeware. Even if they’re labelled “abandonware”, it’s technically still piracy. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But thanks for providing help. 🙂
