Holy crap, just noticed I wasn’t being notified on this thread xD so apologies, got Win95 working some time ago but still cheers for the info. 🙂
That sounds pretty cool, I’ll give it a go one of these days, thanks. 🙂
@Hotte76 thanks for the info :), I was aware that most Windows versions after Win95 (and even that) run pretty slow unless you have a beefy device (though I doubt it) and pretty much heard of Exagear and similar apps, my interest was for pure curiousity and just to see if you can actually run it, I was interested since Magic DosBox is really user-friendly compared to other apps, thanks though!
Yet another quick entry, just tried Myth II: Soulblighter and holy crap, not only is the game pretty smooth after disabling the high resolution option but the animations/intro/cutscenes are of such good quality as well and so smooth! 🙂
Read a little about the TFix and other patches and such supposedly supporting more resolutions, lower ones hopefully included, was thinking maybe if applying the fix on pc first and then copying the game’s folder on phone.. but not sure if the exe files would work on the Win 95 version of Thief (?)
Oh sweet, does it really not have a 320×240 res? Thought it did, or maybe it was something like 400×300 which couldn’t load the res for me and if I tried changing to 512×384 it just went back to desktop, assuming it crashed.
Another quick entry just to mention that although unplayable for obvious reasons Thief: The Dark Project does run though. xD
Sweet, just had a quick run, for testing sake with Blood II: The Chosen xD and it’s suffice to say it’s unplayable, but interestingly running. xD
Another quick entry for an all time classic, Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus works pretty great. 🙂
Managed to make it work with Magic DosBox in the end 🙂 and as you mentioned, I’ve read that most cd’s aren’t bootable but managed to get hold of one that is, thanks though. However I’m curious about another aspect, you mentioned a 4gb image but if I tried creating one larger than 1gb, say 2gb it’s stuck on the booting screen (after changing the correct parameters in the DosBox config file of course and after reading that supposedly Win 95 can read max 2gb for a drive), I’ve read a bit about the differences between FAT options but just left the default option on, needless to say all works fine now, though of course I wouldn’t mind more drive space. 🙂
Yeah same xD, tried with the Deluxe Edition as well as others, though I’m having more odd errors related to the original game (such as installing expansions in order, even though it was supposed to be a collection xD) on top of running it in the first place. xD
I see, I tried indeed copying just the installed folders in a few cases but was just curious, thanks. 🙂
Nice, quick entry, Age of Empires sort of works xD apart from the buggy audio, however I was curious about one more aspect, few random game demos I’ve tried froze Win 95 during installation, any of you had the same issue and know of any fix/reason for it? 🙂
Wow, that sounds great! Pretty happy with my Huawei P9 Lite for now but wonder what new tech we’ll have in the hopefully close future. 🙂
Sweet, indeed there are, just tried the demo myself for a quick test but it is pretty smooth. 🙂
