Sweet, also glad to say Diablo works a charm on Win 95, soundtrack and dialogue also smooth and enjoyable as ever! 🙂
snikeParticipantOh sweet, I’ll do some testing with that as well in case, thanks! 🙂
snikeParticipantSame with Flight Unlimited, it sort of runs. xD
snikeParticipantJust messing a bit with Clive Barker’s Undying and lol I gotta say, I’m pretty impressed that the damn thing even runs xD, of course in Safe mode but still, I’ve a Huawei P9 Lite, it’s not too bad but hopefully a better phone would perform better as well. 🙂
snikeParticipantSounds good 🙂 little by little most game will be playable hehe
snikeParticipantSeems like at least a few of the games such as Civ 2 and Neverhood are working now which is sweet, although the latter has some broken graphics, mostly black boxes around characters and items but I’m glad I could run it, I’ll test with a few more demos these days, cheers! 😀
snikeParticipantI’ll give that a go thanks, also sorry for the late reply, I always forget to subscribe to either of the threads I’m posting to. 🙂
snikeParticipantThis is a weird yet funny entry for the Win 9.x games.
Just tried SimCopter and altough compared to other entries on here it may look pretty funny and early 3D gaming, however it doesn’t cease to amaze me the fact that I’m both emulating Win 95 and a somewhat-3D game on my phone, tried a few Win 95 games these past days where I’ve had a few errors which I’d like to list just in case some of you know any fixes, most games btw were demos since I just wanted a quick look to see if the game would even start.
With Drowned God: Conspiracy for the Ages for example everything was fine except that it told me “Could not start due to the following problems.. You are running in 8-bit color mode” ;
Indiana Jones and his Desktop Adventures is another funny litte yet interesting to try game which works, honestly I was amazed anything could start with some of the most usual and common errors I was having lol ;
Star Wars: Episode I – Battle for Naboo was another one that gave me this error “No 3D display adapter installed” ;
Clive Barker’s Undying gave me this error “Bink error 256 color mode not supported” ;
For the rest, pretty much most games gave me this error, alone or along with other errors mentioned above, games as well as apparently either explorer.exe or Internet Explorer, the error is “This program has performed an illegal operation and it will be shut down”, which I’ve read was a pretty common error with Win 95/98 back in the day, for whatever reason..
I’ve tried different setups/configs for Win 95, I’ve read about weird compativility between larger RAM sizes and possibly VRAM, either a lower size worked better than a higher one, or somewhere in-between, what do you guys think would be some of the best or perfect numbers, what other settings, emulated harware (GPU/CPU), drivers etc. for better performance and in general just to start up a few somewhat-3D games? (ofc the rest depends on the smartphone’s hardware)
Enjoy the rest of the weekend you all or have a great Monday start depending on your timezones! 🙂
snikeParticipantSorry for the late reply, my bad, I was still learning about different sisez as I was testing more, so even the c HDD can only be 2GB max right, not just the D one? Thanks again, glad Windows is running on an actual smartphone, now I’m just pretty much testing demos of games with Win 95 support, checking out compatibility, errors, fixes and such, many thanks for the video guides on youtube!
snikeParticipantMy main problem with games with similar sizes is that if either the game’s image or the game’s folder is bigger than 2GB, since you can at max use a 2GB HDD you’re pretty much stuck, or the drive C in Win 95 is only big to a point, I think when i tried installing The Sims Deluxe Edition it needed more than 500 mb of space which was what my C drive had, any way of creating an HDD with more volume, or does Win 95 not support more?
Also would you ever consider doing a video guide for installing Win 98 or later Windows versions (if possible) like you did with Win 95?
Thanks again for the help/info!
snikeParticipantThere was a Game Image HDD I was curious about trying for The Sims in the video guide’s description you linked in your previous comment https://dir50.com/2n5bib3qypy8/hdd-2gb_AOE1_2_The_Sims_1.zip.html , however it fails to let me download it in any way, it either blocks the page if I’ve Adblock on or it floods my browser with pop-ups otherwise over and over again, trying a different tactic for the game with some RIP folders + some CD/expansion to mount and hopefully fix the game, other than that I’ve no idea what else to try hehe but thanks for the info/help provided so far, I guess just being able to run Win 95 on my phone is a feat on it’s own, in any case I’d love to read more fixes if there are more to be found! 🙂
snikeParticipantThank you, apologies since I’ve had some net issues myself, I’ll give this guide a look, though I think I remember following it some time ago. So far I’ve only tried what I found in another thread on this forum and that is just copying the RIP folders instead of the images to mount, had a few errors so trying to fix those as well.
snikeParticipantOne kind-of-error after another hehe.. soo, I think I managed to mount another HDD on another virtual drive, though this time after a quick look at the Win 95 boot-up screen, it goes back to DOS.. then it finally starts, guessing it’s taking more time to load because of the new HDD, however it doesn’t show up in My Computer, tried changing the drive’s letters, also probably important to mention that I simply inserted a new line in the Expert commands Configuration hopefully with the right info, it detects it in Dos as a new Drive etc. but Idk why it doesn’t show it up once Win 95 loads up.. any fix for this? Or also, how do you create a virtual HDD? Thank you!
snikeParticipantManaged to install Win 95 with a proper version, on Magic DosBox via VirtualBox and the Youtube playlist/guides, however there’s another problem now, since I want to install a different game than Fallout 2, such as The Sims, I need more space, is it possible to use 2 HDD’s at the same time? In the sense of having 2 copies of the HDD file provided in the Youtube guides, on my phone at the same time? Thank you in advance!
snikeParticipantSince the Limbo emulator only loads up the Win 95 image the only thing that comes to mind is if it’s in any way possible to create a Win 95 image with something already installed on it then open it with the emulator? I know, I’m probably overcomplicating things lol
