LarrynhoParticipant
Check the duke 3d MGC profile, Works exactly like that… I got most of the old DOS fps games configured like that. Note tan on some its imposible due to lack of mouse aiming ( some get it via a patch like Powerslave ).
LarrynhoParticipantMobbin I cannot tell you why, but for me Daggerfall worked perfectly fine: I downloaded the lastest patched yadda yadda version that Bethesda released for free, installed it on my pc, transferred the files to my sd card nad it worked without issue from day one.
From this link:
DaggerfallSetup.exe
16 October 2017
157 MB
DaggerfallSetup is a ready-to-play Daggerfall install compatible with modern Windows Systems originally compiled by Ancestral Ghost, now maintained by Daneel53. The game already includes patch 1.07.213 and the official CompUSA Special Edition quest pack and DOSBox. Unofficial fixes, quests, translations and utilities are also included as optional installation components. Current release is DaggerfallSetup 2.14.1. More details here : (DaggerfallSetup Web Site)LarrynhoParticipantWhen/If I have time, Ill try Dwarf Fortress in this versión… afaik the only limitation was the amount of ram :p
LarrynhoParticipantI dont think im using the appearance mod actually (unless It comes with Rp and get auto installed) so… cant really tell, sorry.
LarrynhoParticipantI got f2 AND restoration, working on win98 with 64 mb of ram… I dont know what the problema might be. RP uses and requires a f2 hd texture patch (included) so thats not the issue.
Try this (from the wiki… long shot but…):
if you’re using a 64-bit version of Windows (Vista or 7), you may find that the default configuration crashes upon load. You must run the game in DirectX Mode 4. In ddraw.ini in the Fallout 2 directory, find the [Graphics] section and use this setting:
Mode=4
Do not disable DirectX mode in the Sfall settings of the “scrn” preferences in-game, or it will crash again upon startupLarrynhoParticipantNope, asked the same thing a few weeks ago .. I was trying to run Dwarf Fortress ( requires 150 mb at least ). For f2 and for afaik everything on win 98, 64 is more than enough… F2 , D2, Starcraft, etc ran ok for me.
LarrynhoParticipantMight be a stupid question but have u installed directx? I think that the las version w98 supports is dx8.0… or at least I think I have it installed.
LarrynhoParticipantF1 was a dos native game with a Windows 95 executable. F2 is a win xp native game; Restoration Project adds win98 compatibility, hence that’s why its mandatory. It’s a big mod/patch made by the community that issues lots of things and bugs.
Ive just read that you installed the game on your pc and transferred the files… I think that should NOT work. You should get your fallout 2 installation files into a .img, mount int in win98 and install the humongous installation from inside the dosbox/win98. In the same image add the restoration Project and install it too ( Its a dos executable if I remember well ).
That’s what I did and it worked fine for me.
pd: he* :p Im not that keen on dosbox but Ive been using computers since the win 3.11 era so I battled my way through most games in that era :p
LarrynhoParticipantHeya! I directed you to the forum from reddit 😀 I might try reinstalling win98 vesa driver, or reinstalling fallout 2. Hope anyone else can give some more advice. Also try ticking SVN Core in options.
LarrynhoParticipantThen you are not really using anything heavy on the processor or have the default governor changed :). Take gamecube emulation or native game Nba 2k18… as soon as 30 or so seconds pass the cpu goes from 1500 mhz to 500-600… the game/emu goes from 25-30 fps to 10. You hit multitask and the the governor stops throttling and you quickly get back to the game and its near 30 fps again… again for a few seconds. Theres an cpu strees app that runs into the background that forces the cpu/gpu to stay at 100% but after like 10 minutes or so playing the phone digievolves into an oven :p
Some old snap Soc had severe thermal problems but they improved a lot. 820 and forward outperform the same level exynos/kirin by a lot in real using (maybe not in bemchmarks but…).
LarrynhoParticipantNote: Exynos is only better at emulating Dosbox. To emulate any other thing ( consoles ) , snapdragos is miles ahead… not by the Soc perse but for the GPU. Snap have Adreno gpus and Exynos has Mali… and mali has the worst direver support EVER, with vulkan barely working and openg GL missing a bunch of features… not to mention heavy termal throttling. Even for native 3d gaming, Adreno is miles ahead of Mali.
I emulate a lot on my phone and Im not buying another exynos ever, good snapdragons are beefy enough for Dosbox anyways.
LarrynhoParticipantI did play it a bit back on the day, and have it installed on my MDB… havent played it that much but other city builders I play with relative with ease. If I recall properly, the screen scrolling is not great in this game, I’d suggest macroing it to something more usable.
LarrynhoParticipantNo DF mobile then :p
LarrynhoParticipantIve tried 8-10 early 3d games like Dark Forces 2 and on my s7 exynos I cant reach 10 fps on any game :/ and I dont think its just a matter of soc speed… dosbox is pushed to its limits when emulating windows+games.
LarrynhoParticipantHavent tried, some time ago I bought this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.atari.mobile.rctc&hl=es
Its RCT 1 + 2 , with revamped touch interface… its 6€ BUT it Works perfectly. Having a port as good as this, I wont bother much on Windows version.
