Same issue on my A52s, completely fresh DosBox install.

Did you use the Abandonia files? What Android version are you on?

Yes I tried that straight away thinking it was a permissions issue. Have tried different game files, fresh profile, internal/external storage, different root folders, moved SD permission to the exact game folder, moved Magic DosBox to SD card.

Nothing comes back from Google about that specific error in Dos, really odd, can only think it’s a Samsung issue? Need to test on another device.

Is there a way to get logs off Magic to see any more info on the error?

I’m pretty lost with this, not sure why my device (Samsung Tab A 10.1) is having this issue with this game. Worked about a year ago, weird.

Figured out my black screen on launch problem, it didn’t like the game files being on the root of the image (D:\). Once they were inside another folder both games load normally.

I notice the .Avi files don’t play but there’s a pause where they would normally run, anything you can install on Win95 to support video playback? I have the video codecs from the driver package installed.

Hmm what’s causing my problem then, I’ll need to investigate further!

I’ll try starting it completely fresh with a new profile in Magic.

    Don’t get hooked on it!

Yeah it’s all good, I’ve got 10+ DOS games working no issue and Win95 boots.

I’ve copied the files that are working in DosBox for Windows directly over but still the same issue. It seems to be a game-specific issue on Magic. I’ve tried 4 different versions of the game files (CD files, raw Dos files etc.) but all the same problem.

So yes, runs fine in DosBox on Windows, not sure why it’s throwing up this error in Magic, had it working in the past with no issues.

Files that work for it are available on Abandonia if you want to give it a go, they’re only like 30MB.

Cheers for the reply, I have a BEL iso which does work, just not sure how I got BTCOD working without one, annoying that I lost my working files.

    Hey Alex,

I keep meaning to do this will come back to ya. I don’t think it’s an Android issue though, other games boot fine.

Off topic for this thread but could you check my post in your old Commandos Behind Enemy Lines thread if you haven’t noticed it? 😀

Sorry to ping such an old thread, how did you get the Gog version to work on Win95? When I copy the installed files over the .exe doesn’t want to work (either a kernel32.dll or shell32.dll error).

I do have Commandos running on Win95 through Magic DosBox but I needed to use an original .iso and fully install it (and have the iso mounted as I can’t find a working crack).

I’m trying to get Commandos Beyond the Call of Duty working but only have Gog/Steam files.

    Cheers

On another note I’ve created a Win95 installation with a 1GB disc, no issues with that, runs just as well at the 512MB. When I try it on a 2GB it doesn’t seem to want to boot, I just get “booting from drive C” in D Box and it doesn’t launch Windows.

I’ve installed Win95 numerous times through V Box to get a fresh image but no luck, any hints? I’m not enabling large disc support as that won’t mount the image at all.

Possibly a hardware limitation with Samsung Tab A 10.1?

Winworldpc.com has a Win95 ISO you can use.

I’m interested in getting Win98 working just for the increased storage size, does anyone have the values for bigger .IMG files by any chance?

I installed the Win 95 CPU fix and let it run on the black screen for a few minutes and it seems to be working. Either I was being too impatient or it was a CPU issue!

Hmmm, I am trying to make a fresh Win95 image but not having much luck. I’m on a different PC this time though (a lot more modern/high spec).

I get it all installed but when Win95 tries to boot for the first time in VirtualBox the Win95 splash screen shows momentarily and then reverts to a black screen with a flashing underscore (similar to what was happening with my old image in DosBox after a crash). I can get into the OS with safe mode but that doesn’t help much.

Followed the youtube video to the letter about 10 times now, not sure what’s messing it up, any thoughts? 😀
