If you repack the zip file with a normal archiver, it doesn’t always work. Not quite sure, but I think you have to store it as uncompressed zip. Easiest way is to rename the original .mgc file to .zip, open it with 7zip, delete/add items, then save the file, and rename to .mgc – that works for me, at least.

And regarding the xml file: no, during the development process of pixel traps, there were some fundamental changes made that completely broke the profiles. If I launch one that still contains “old” pixel traps, Dosbox will crash completely. But it’s easy enough, just remove the code between the tags. I already got my UW profile working again, just need to add some new pixel traps. πŸ™‚

That looks really cool! I have to dig out my old layout and fix it. It got corrupted during the Pixel Trap development process, but should work again when I delete the Pixel Trap entries in the profile’s xml file. πŸ€”

Sounds like you’re really into it. πŸ˜‰
I’ve played (and finished) Ultima Underworld on my phone with Magic Dosbox, it’s definitely doable. Mine was a very old layout though, and it took a lot of enthusiasm to actually complete it. I’ve been working on and off on a portrait mode layout ever since, I might give it another spin if something more user friendly than my initial layout pops up. πŸ™‚

My guess is that while mouse reset is being executed, it gets messed up again with the next taps. It should work if you set the Rest command to 500ms or higher, but that would defeat the whole purpose of this particular deadly strike widget. You could place a target & mouse reset widget over the small chain that rotates the character sheet. So that when you’re done scrolling yout stats, you can execute it while the sheet flips over.

It seems to be tied to the mouse reset function. If you only use three items (absolute mouse / target / relative mouse), it works fine, see this video (very crude layout πŸ˜‡, just for testing purposes).

Tbh, I only ever used hdd images that came with correct mounting commands (the ones I’ve linked in this post).
Are you using a “regular” 512 MB image? If so, have you tried the parameters I’m using on mine(512,63,32,520)?

Not really, apart from guessing. Does it work in “regular” Windows/Linux Dosbox (=do you have access to a pc)? Because apart from a few minor things, Magic Dosbox is probably 99,99% compatible to the Windows version. Troubleshooting on a big screen & keyboard is so much easier. πŸ™‚

If you like, you can post your expert settings here (it’s basically Dosbox’s .conf file), so we can have a look at your settings.

    Hello, and welcome! πŸ™‚
Win95 is terrible to set up, there can be numerous reasons. If it hangs on the boot screen, you might want to check your settings again. If there’s only the slightest bit off with the -size parameter, it won’t launch. Also, make sure you do not use SVN core, it’s a bit buggy in Win95.
In my case (512 MB image), it’s like this (“0000-0000” is my external sd):
    imgmount c /storage/0000-0000/Games/PC/Win95/c.img -t hdd -fs fat -size 512,63,32,520

Because it says “type Ultima7.com to start the game” when I use U7.exe. Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―
Of course you can use my layout. It’s a bit outdated anyway. πŸ™‚

Can you post a link to your profile? If you select ultima7.com under the Main Program tab, it should work.
Also, save states can only be loaded once the main program has launched (the one that is stored/referred to in the save state). Sometimes, it works right after you’ve launched a game, but in case of U7 you’ll have click “Journey onward” first, and wait until the regular save is loaded.

Glad it worked. From what I’ve read, this game is pretty buggy anyway, and many programmers didn’t care about frame limiters back in the day. Just try to play Wing Commander 1 with cycles=max. πŸ˜…

Seems like a bug in Ultima 6 to me. It’s the mix between mouse input (tap “Move” icon, then tap item to be moved) and the following keyboard press that breaks the input.
When I remove the “M” overlay I’ve placed on top of the Move icon, I get the same bug.

Yeah, I’m using Total Commander and Solid Explorer. The latter was causing the issue, so I unpacked it with zArchiver.

I’m getting the same mouse issue, also in Dosbox for Windows. It only seems to be related to emulation speed though. When I set cycles to a low fixed value (3000-5000), the cursor behaves as it should.
