ricciomtParticipant
I have a random question, actually, but this is about how this thing works on a Chromebook, which is, I assume, not part of the design. I clicked the Create Desktop Shortcut button, which didn’t seem to do anything, because of course Chromebook doesn’t have a desktop. I did notice it seemed to send the shortcut to the context menu:
Any theories on what is happening here? I had hoped there would be to make a shortcut into the launcher, which in Chromebook is the equivalent of the app drawer.
Another thing I’ve noticed is, when I go into the advanced settings to change the cycles, it seems to have a hard time launching the game from the path? Is this intentional for some reason? As in, instead of launching the game it takes me to the right directory and then I type in the name of the .exe file, which is not a huge deal it just seemed odd.
ricciomtParticipantJust want to say thanks for all your guys help.
ricciomtParticipantThis is probably a futile question, but since I’m already using the mouse and keyboard on a Chromebooksis it possible to map mouse touches to keyboard buttons using the widgets, instead of the other way around? As in I press the keyboard button and the mouse touches the screen in a spot, instead of touching the screen to make it press a keyboard button? Or maybe I’m not understanding what the widgets do.
ricciomtParticipantMy mind kept reading it as uninstall not uinstall. ?
ricciomtParticipantAha! That seems to have done it, I was running install1.EXE not uinstall.EXE
ricciomtParticipantI seem to have gotten Sid Meiers Pirates to work following a similar set of steps, including working audio.
ricciomtParticipantWhen I try to run the install file it gives me the sound card options but then throws an error: Expanded Memory Not detected.
ricciomtParticipantHere’s what I get:
UWSound
Configures Underworld for non default soundcardsYou do not currently have any sound devices installed
If you wish to add sound devices run InstallIf I just run uw.exe it seems to launch but with no audio.
ricciomtParticipantThanks everybody, I will try this out tonight.
ricciomtParticipantI guess what I’m asking, are some of these Gog games packaged as such that running them out of this kind of emulator even possible?
ricciomtParticipantThanks so much, fiddling with the sound card seems to have gotten most of the games running. Is there a way to help with chunkiness of the mouse movement? I turned mouse sensitivity way up and put on absolute mouse, I don’t know if there’s other settings that would help with that?
The last two games I’m trying to get to work are Sid Meier’s pirates gold and ultima underworld.
Honestly, the problem with both of these is looking through the install folders from gog, I literally don’t know what executable I’m supposed to launch. Is there a way to easily deduce that?
ricciomtParticipantNow it won’t even mount the right directory?
ricciomtParticipantI tried just copying that setting to the bottom of the config file and it didn’t do anything.
ricciomtParticipantI seem to have gotten sword of the samurai to work! I am still looking at Colonization. Right now, the config is on default settings.
The DOSbox I was using before only showed like two settings:
[sdl]
output=openglTo get the game to work I just had to put a # in front of the output line to turn off opengl and it seemed to load. What is the equivalent of that in this program?
