ParticipantI had a quick look, and couldn’t find this one, so I made my own. It’s pretty quick and dirty, but it works fine.
Master of Magic is a turn-based 4X game, in a similar vein to Civilization, but is set in a fantasy universe. It has huge differences from the Civ series, with inclusion of races (Elves, Dwarves, Lizardmen, etc), a massive amount of items, hero units, and magical spells, and a character creation system more similar to Master of Orion 2 (by the same developers, Simtex) where various perks and magical styles can be chosen. Battles are conducted on their own screen, with full tactical options available, instead of on the world map.
Much beloved by the 4X strategy fanbase, it’s considered one of the best games ever of the genre, and is still played widely to this day. It even got a remake in 2022. But now you can play the 1994 original, in all its glory, on your phone!
This interface contains buttons for Magic/ Alchemy/ Diplomacy, Survey/Scout, Tax %, Heroes/ Armies, Spells, and Research, making menuing far quicker (and colour coded to help stop fat-fingering). It also includes long left-click, for moving magic/alchemy sliders, escape for backing out of menus and options, right click for viewing cities and units, and a Wait button for combat and world-map ease-of-use.
I didn’t add Next Turn, because it ended up being disastrous in gameplay, so you’ll have to mouse click it. But you can’t accidentally waste an entire turn by accidentally pressing it. I’m still not sure if Wait would have been useful, but it is unnecessary.
(Ok, added a Wait button. It does make things easier).
((I also didn’t make Spells a button. It felt weird. Mousing/Scrolling up and casting spells felt better. Like you’re doing something, rather than a menuing system thingo. Might be different for some, but I like it this way. It feels better as the Master of Magic experience))
(((Meh, made a Spells button, after thinking about it a bit. It’s handy in combat)))It’s fairly bare bones, but is entirely functional, and doesn’t overtake the main playing experience. I’ve finished entire playthroughs with it, so it definitely contains everything you need.
(The .mgc file you need is at the bottom of this post. Download it, start Magic Dosbox, click the big + (plus) icon, choose “Import”, then select this file. It will probably be in your Downloads directory. Then long-click the Master of Magic icon, and choose “Edit”. You might have to change the “Main Program” directory (scroll down a tad) to where you have Master of Magic on your phone. Just hit “Choose” and find it. You are looking for something called “Magic.exe” in the directory you put it. I don’t know where you put your old Dos games on your phone)
((Honestly, the developer should just rename Import profile, to “Import .mgc”, and then it would be obvious what it does))

ParticipantAaah that’s nice! I actually started a layout long time ago but never finished it. Good to see one <3.

ParticipantThis is about the third overlay I’ve made across different phones (I keep forgetting to upload it, then I eventually break my phone, and have to start over).
Is there anything you’d add to the overlay? It’s got most of the regularly used keyboard buttons/ mouse functions, but others might play the game differently than I do.
I’ve left out Next Turn (it’s too easy to accidentally press it), and Spells (it felt better to go to the menu), but are there any buttons you find essential to play that aren’t there? That speed basic play up?
(I probably will add a Spells button, because it could be handy in combat)
