First off, thank you for this wonderful piece of software, particularly what was done with the game setup processes and widget features. It certainly gave the games I loved decades ago a new lease of life with totally new ways of playing.

Being a Star Wars fan, I used Magic Dosbox for games like TIE Fighter and Dark Forces, thus I set up my widgets for controls needed during game missions. My question is, what are the ways to enable the widgets to appear only during missions and hide away for menus, cutscenes, etc?

My current strategy is to add a ‘special’ widget with the ‘hide all widgets’ toggle, but I’d like to hear if there’s a better solution. I’d prefer not having to tap away my controls every time I start up a game.

Note: I see there’s a checkbox for widget layers titled ‘visible at start’, but it’s not behaving the way I expect it to. Like, I can’t bring the widget layer back once I start the game with it invisible. Or am I missing something?

    EDIT:
Aaaand just when I post about this I found there’s already a great solution here: https://magicbox.imejl.sk/forums/topic/daggerfall-2/

Using the ‘run at start’ combo feature and selectively hide the widgets I do not need. Perfect!
