lol, not surprising! Google with it’s preaching of an open source AOSP, and letting venders lock stuff down anyway…

    Worthless, I can still root’em! 😜

    EDIT:

And just add in it’s android 11+ restrictions…

I can add apps to Samsung games launcher, but the “game plugins” works for games that are in a db. For example, if I sideload retroarch_x64 from nightlies it appears there but retroarch_x32 build is not in the db. The app that handle the db is “game optimizing service” a system app. With my older phones and older “game launcher” and/or older “game optimizing service” versions, I could add games to it and game plugins were working, but that’s not the case anymore.

My guess is they collect data from users, many installs gets added to DB or something like that.

Made another video with CPU load overlay, I know CPU frequency even if max is not same as CPU load but here you can see that rotate the screen set the prime core to max clock (not load) so the core is not properly used for whatever reason. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=321sGbX6MKc

Edit: tested another overlay app where I can set the refresh rate https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWxsMizcTZc

Nice boost to performance, I have to say. Getting 459 instead of 570 on an A52s now. I think I’ll also re-bench my old S9+.
*Edit* yes, S9+ is now around 720 instead of 891.

would like to know what the reason for that is APP and/or ANDROID and/or SAMSUNG?

Well, I’m blaming Samsung. They have full control over cpu / gpu governor and clock settings (which they profoundly messed up in the past). It’s just a sleeker, more casual-user-(read: idiot)-friendly UI that prevents any real proper of tweaking. I’m not an “everything was better in the old days” guy, but in the case of Android, it really was. That sweet time period around 2012-2016, when you could root the crap out of devices, and apply automatic cpu core and clock adjustments on a per-app basis, that was great. There was a great tool, can’t remember it’s name, that let you configure all sorts of stuff.
For example, as soon as I launched Magic Dosbox on my Note 4, my tweaks would shut down cores 2&3 completely, downclock core 4 to 800 MHz to handle light background load, and lock the first core to max clocks. The Snapdragon 805 was notorious for overheating and downthrottling, and the Note 4 usually scored around 2000 realtics in the benchmark, before it started to overheat (90+°C), and thermal throttle, rendering the device useless. With my extra tweaks, I could push it to 1370 realtics, with temperatures around 65-70°C, and no thermal throttling at all.
But hey, thank you, Google & Samsung, for taking away all these possibilies for no real reason at all.
    /rant off 😉

I feel you, some things went wrong, but I did manage to root my phones still, but it gets trickier from phone generation to phone generation… I made a good video now that fix the “problem” (it is not a real problem as it is already fast enough) and it works only if you are rooted 🙁

In this video https://youtu.be/64OAKU2McsM I compared the now default governor “walt” vs “schedutil” vs “performace” and only performance could really benchmark the CPU as clocks are maxed out all the time, you can see that in the video. “schedutil” was the default governor in my previous phone Note 20 Ultra.
Also in the phone list you can add the performance governor with ~350 realtics https://imgur.com/ZSgzDyx that’s without video recording.

Oof, 349 is insane! What’s that, Pentium 400 speed?

Xiaomi Pocophone F5 (Snapdragon 7+ Gen2). Previosuly reported over 500 realticks but i knew this soc is more powerfull. Reinstalled lastest miui european rom and the change was huge. Now ~330 realticks default kernel settings.
