So I installed Carmageddon including Splat Pack (from the Internet Archive) on Magic DOSbox and img mounted the CD-ROM (with a batch file). But for some reason it showed vertical lines and I couldn’t see it clearly. The issue was something like this: https://github.com/dosbox-staging/dosbox-staging/issues/1231
The cause is supposed to be this: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/25041/dosbox-official-thread
but it only mentions the libretro cores and forks of DOSBox, and the cause is: “Carmageddon vertical stripes/lines. This is a known problem with the 64-bit version of DosBox (quote: “on non-x86 we emulate the fpu using doubles which are 64 bit.”). DOSBox’s devs say that the solution is to use a 32-bit DosBox build. I am to replicate the issue on every versions: SDL1, SDL2 and “staging”.”
I do not know how to not get this problem again in the future, but the DOSBox on PC loads the game normally, no vertical lines. Is Magic DOSBox having issues with the game’s graphics or what? Loading it in DOSBox loads it without the lines, but Magic DOSBox seems to encounter the vertical lines.
Hi,
Not in far future will be updated “normal” core, this fix will be included.
What are you talking about to be exact? Just asking for what are you referring to.
Hi, in next version this will be fixed. However, fix is applied to v74 only. Svn core will not receive now this fix, because all existing save states which users have, will be corrupted. Fix will go out for v74 and people will be warned that in next 1-2 versions will became theirs save states invalid.
