I’m cant get Imperium Galactica 1 to work in magic dosbox.
The game itself runs fine until I need to enter CD2.

    I’ve tried three different versions.
    1. The gog version which runs in regular dosbox. This one works fine on PC but not in Magic Dosbox.
    2. The steam version, same as the gog version.
    3. I dug up my old CD version and converted it into a couple of ISO files, but no luck. It can install just fine and play until the first CD is at it’s end but that’s it.

I don’t have issues with getting the CD loaded, or swapping it during gameplay. It just isn’t recognized as the correct CD during the game. Might be some form of copy protection.

    any suggestions?

There should be dosbox config in pc version. Can you post it?

So there are four conf. files.

In the Game_root with the executable.
    Dosbox_IG.conf
    Dosbox_Ig_setting.Conf
    Dosbox_IG_single.Conf

    In the Game_root/dosbox folder.
    Dosbox.Conf

Im guessing Dosbox_IG.conf is the relevant one.

The Ig_single or IG settings basically have nothing but the launch parameters.

    “@echo off
    mount c “..”
    c:
    cls
    imperium
    exit”

Please rename .conf to txt, or add .txt then it can be uploaded. Uploder here is stupid.

Hi I kept running into issues with posting either an error popped up or got flagged as suspicious.

I’ve created an alternate account to see if that helps. The txt files are attached to this post.

Edit: Still have the same issues that attachments are blocked. I’ve tried creating a rar archive.

2nd edit: No luck, is there an e-mail address that I can use?

Thats weird, i can upload txt. I must check that plugin. Well, send it here magicbox(at)imejl.sk. Or paste content under [autoexec] section

Ah the Autoexec part just has these lines.

    [autoexec]
    # Lines in this section will be run at startup.
    # You can put your MOUNT lines here.
    @echo off
    mount c “..”
    c:
    cls
    imperium
    exit

I’m getting 2 different errors btw whilst trying to upload.

dosbox.txt: The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-content/uploads/2024/06.
dosbox_ig.txt: The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-content/uploads/2024/06.
dosbox_ig_settings.txt: Sorry, you are not allowed to upload this file type.
dosbox_ig_single.txt: Sorry, you are not allowed to upload this file type.

Hm, is it the only [autoexec] section? Other files dont have it? Seems only “imperium” is necessary to start and none cd is mounted.

What you mount as drive c? Seems it should be parent folder of folder where is “imperium” startup file

I am now out of country, without access to pc, so I cant fix the issues with uploading. This must wait.

No worries, I was out of the country as well. I’m in no hurry either way, it’s cool if we can get it to work if not also fine. Already quite happy with Magic dosbox because it allows me to flawlessly play some of my favorite old games on android.

I’ve mounted the root folder of the game as drive C. This is were the imperium.exe file is located. The game also runs fine that way until it requires CD2.

I’ve also noted the that when I exit the game, I’m returned to the CMD prompt. IF I type D: there it indicates that it can’t find the drive. So I might have done something wrong there I’ve added both CD’s as IMP1 and IMP2 based on the original iso files using the CD-ROM part of the setup. I’ve also tried added the folder as a CD, because the GOG version doesn’t seem to have any ISO files in it and as far as I can tell from the config files it’s only mounting a C-drive.

Maybe you can share with me data for testing + save game a bit before when game asks for cd. I will see in debugger what it does. But i can check it when i will be back. I will send you email.

Cool, I’ve sent you an email with some files and instructions on how to get to the point where the game requests the 2nd CD.

    ###############################

I seem to remember that this error already occurred on PC and was corrected with Patch 1.3. It actually only changes a couple of executables.

In any case, you must check that you have mounted the two images on the CDs. When it asks you to change CD you must go to the magic dosbox menu and click on change CD image, wait a second or two and press the Enter key.

You must also keep in mind that if you use “Cheats” the game changes your rank. To explain myself better, if you command the Destroyer and activate the cheats the game promotes you to the maximum rank and assumes that you command the Flagship Thorin. Therefore, to avoid mistakes you must become a lieutenant again. This is done by pressing 5 on the keyboard, if you command the Cruiser and activate the tricks you must finish by pressing 6 to return to the correct range. If you don’t do this the game will ask you to change CDs and will often ask you for CD1 when it should actually ask for CD2.

    I hope it helps you.
