Decided to install the Commander Keen games from Steam on Magic DOSBox today on my Android tablet.
I use an XBox Controller with this tablet, hence I wanted to map the key controls of the game to my Controller.

I ran into 2 issues with this, hence I decided to post a question here:
    1. Would like to use the left stick to control Commander Keen. The arrows seem to have been up mapped to the stick by default. However it doesn’t work. Did I forget a setting?
    2. Did the mapping using Voodoo control settings, however upon closing the app all those settings were gone. What should I do to make sure the settings persist?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

If you bind keypad to left stick then you must bind to each direction arrows. I checked it, seems to be not mapped by default. Dont forget to enable mapper with checkbox. On bottom of general settings window is “save” button. It saves all settings.

    Thanks for the reply.
Just tried your suggestions, and it works perfectly now.
Got Commander Keen running around using the left stick.
Also settings are saved now. Indeed didn’t realise you have to press the “save” button on the main game settings screen.

I think its not lucky solution, i really should rewrite it and save it automatically

What basically “deceived” me with regards to saving is the fact that after being done with the “Voodoo Controls”, the whole settings screen closed, not making it possible to save the settings until reopening the setting screen. Hence giving the false impression all setting were already saved.

Seeing the settings screen after completing the mapping with the save button may help already.
Off course, automatically saving would be even better.

Even though the app does have some usability flaws here and there I do want to say:
It’s by far the best and feature rich DOSBox emulator (for Android) on the market, and I’m really happy with it!
Actually it has a lot of feature that I wish the Windows DOSBox has.
