    It’s for TIE Fighter. Whenever I get close to a battle with a lot of shooting and objects it slows down, it wasn’t like this when I originally got the phone. I recently reformatted the phone, didn’t help, and restarting the phone doesn’t help either.

    I have never fiddled around with expert settings before, and the guides I have seen online seem to be for the pc version and I am not sure if they share the same directions with magic dosbox.. Can you guys help me understand these? I’ll put a parenthesis () next to questions I have:

    [dosbox]
    machine=svga_s3 (from what I gathered, svga_s3 is the best in terms for performance out of all the other pc dosbox can emulate?)
    memsize=16 (I set this for 64 mb in the .mgc file, why is it showing 16?)
    #Amount of video memory in megabytes (0-8).
    # The maximum resolution and color depth the svga_s3 will be able to display
    # is determined by this value.
    # 0: 512k (800×600 at 256 colors)
    # 1: 1024×768 at 256 colors or 800×600 at 64k colors
    # 2: 1600×1200 at 256 colors or 1024×768 at 64k colors or 640×480 at 16M colors
    # 4: 1600×1200 at 64k colors or 1024×768 at 16M colors
    # 8: up to 1600×1200 at 16M colors
    #vmemsize=2 (2 mb is the default video memory? Is this referring to its own standalone video ram on a video card, or shared with the 16 mb? Increasing it to 8 mb should give me more performance?)
    #Amount of video memory in kilobytes, in addition to vmemsize
    #vmemsizekb=0

    [render]
    frameskip=2 (if I set this to 0, every frame is being rendered so therefore slower performance right?)
    aspect=false

    [cpu]
    core=dynamic (what offers the best performance? Or should I leave it as is?)
    #valid cputypes (Ykhwong SVN):
    # a)auto
    # b)386
    # c)486
    # d)pentium
    # e)386_prefetch
    cputype=auto (what does this do?)
    cycles=3000 (is this where I change to 120%? Or do I plug in a higher number than 4000?)

    [mixer]
    androidFasterAudio=true
    blocksize=1024
    prebuffer=10
    rate=22050

    [midi]
    mpu401=none
    #mpu401=intelligent
    mididevice=mt32
    mt32.romdir=/storage/emulated/0/
    mt32.thread=on
    mt32.analog=0

    [speaker]
    pcspeaker=true
    pcrate=11025
    tandy=off
    disney=false

    [sblaster]
    sbtype=sb2 (why is this set at sb2 when in the .mgc I have it showing as sb16?)
    sbmixer=true
    oplmode=opl2
    oplemu=fast
    oplrate=22050

    [ipx]
    ipx=false

    [serial]
    serial1=disabled
    serial2=disabled
    serial3=disabled
    serial4=disabled

    [dos]
    xms=true
    ems=true
    umb=true
    keyboardlayout=auto

    [joystick]
    joysticktype=none

    [autoexec]
    @Echo Off
    mount c: /mnt/sdcard/
    c:

    I guess some of the things I am confused about is why the settings here are different than the way I have it set in .mgc.. Do these overwrite it? Or are these yet another setting inside the .Mgc?

    Lol I’ll post pics or a video if I get it working successfully!

    Lol this game is old and does not have an option for sensitivity… However, I found something cool that fixed all my problems.

    So I have Samsung dex, it allows me to hook my phone up to a TV or a screen with multiple USB ports… Well I tried it out with dosbox, and for kicks and giggles I ditched the stupid dualshock 4 and hooked up my CH Combatstick via USB… And OMG it works!! I can’t believe a full blown joystick meant for PC can be used on a phone to play a game on Magic dosbox!! How crazy is that?! Never in a million years did I think I’d be able to play a flight Sim using a joystick on a cell phone!

    Next thing I am going to try is to hook up my pedals and throttle along with the joystick to see if it can work… If it does, this is gonna be some crazy stuff playing a flight sim! ????????

    This brings back some childhood memories! Magic dosbox is awesome, thanks for the quick responses whenever I post on here… you guys did a great job with this app, it’s worth every penny!

    I think it’s the OS overall using more resources.. Android pie is made for current Gen phones while by default s8+ came with Oreo, for previous generations.

    Memory is set at 64 mb, cpu is dynamic, performance is automatic. XMS, EMS, UMB are all checked. Are there anything else I can check or uncheck, or raise or lower to improve performance?

    No lag for me, but I did have that issue at first. What fixed it for me is getting 2nd Gen dualshock 4. First Gen uses a different Bluetooth radio, 2nd Gen has a radio that’s faster in communicating with the phone so eliminates all lag. I recommend u google how to tell 1st Gen and 2nd Gen controllers, they usually list serial numbers and stuff to tell them apart. Buy it on Amazon, and if u still get lag just return it.

    Thanks I will give those mappers a try. Yeah all of the button presses are registering incorrectly for everything that uses dualshock… When I was hitting down arrow in a Nintendo emulator I was jumping.. What a mess!

    It also seems like performance was slightly decreased in MGDBX vs the old Android Oreo version… I definitely did not want this update ugh.

    OK so I just confirmed it. There is something wrong with android pie when it comes to using dualshock 4. A fresh copy of MGDBX has the same messed up controller settings that works fine with android KitKat.

    I remember reading somewhere that Pie supports remapping for dualshock 4…could that be it? Anyone know how I can remap it in pie so I don’t have to remap my entire profile inside MGDBX and the game? This is so frustrating that Google had to mess with perfectly fine mapping of the dualshock 4 with this stupid update.

    So interesting findings tonight… On my old beat up android KitKat phone, my old profiles work flawlessly… So now I will attempt to delete and reinstall a fresh copy of the game on this device. If it’s still messed up, then it’s android pie.

    I really did not want to update to pie. I had Oreo for the longest time because my phone wasn’t broken and I did not want to fix it, for this obvious reason of breaking perfectly fine things. Ugh.

    To test this out, I will attempt to install and play on an older device I have, it runs Android KitKat… If the same profile gives me problems, we can conclude the current version of magic dosbox is the problem. If it does not, it is indeed android pie. If it’s a corrupted profile, I also have a back up of the profile I can dig up that won’t be. I will also upload and leave a link here for u guys to test out my profile for me.

    I spent hours fine tuning my tie fighter profile to squeeze in about 90 percent of the functions I need into a dualshock 4 to be able to play WITHOUT a keyboard… It would really break me if it doesn’t work ??

    How did you guys managed to get win95 running without display drivers or virtual cd crashing?

    Yep, the game supports mouse or joystick to fly around… I don’t see analogue sensitivity setting in the game itself though.

    Does sb2 use less cpu?

    I get some minor cracking and pops in some games…. Anyway this is related to cpu?

    Do u have filters (ie. 5xBR lw) running? When I run Duke 3D with filters on I see some fps hit… Weird thing is whether the filter is on or not to me I see no noticeable graphics improvement… So I turned mine off for max fps.

    I have an idea, give him the apk for the previous version of dosbox that did run successfully for him, and see if it runs fine… If it no longer runs like it did, then something fundamentally changed on his phone and its not magic dosbox.

    On a unrelated note, I’m holding off on android pie update for my s8 plus… Everything is running perfectly and I’m afraid Pie update will break something.

    Ah ok thanks, that’s what I figured. I didn’t want my current on going games and their saves corrupted or lost.
