You must do 2 steps.
First step is setup virtual PC – in game profile (sound blaster 16, RAM, CDROM, …).
Second step is setup sounds in game. MS-DOS games were dumb and they didn’t know how to detect which hardware you have in your pc. You must setup it in game. Usually in game folder is another program SETUP.EXE, SOUND.EXE, SETSOUND.EXE, INSTALL.EXE or something like that. Try look at some my youtube guides, I setup sound in these videos.
